Free Weed and Unkle Funkle Team for '199Oz. Buzz Clips' on Bad Diet Records!

Pre-Order 199Oz. Buzz Clips Now!

Release Date: November 25, 2016 (Black Friday)

Bad Diet Records dialed up the modems of Free Weed & Unkle Funkle to create 199Oz. Buzz Clips. On this full-length cover album, L.A.’s Gnar-punks slam the 1990s’ greatest rock anthems, from “Pepper” to “Black Hole Sun,” like a weed grinder onto a desk of pogs…during detention!

Mount up, as we hotbox a white Bronco piloted by Star Fox and Spoon Man and roll out to a simpler era, when juveniles raided Columbia House CDs instead of Reddit posts, when Brendan Fraser’s hair wasn’t a meme, when Batman didn’t shoot dudes, and #Grunge wasn’t data-mined behind the multi-screen.

This latest BD release is Free Weed’s follow-up to 2015’s Introducing, numerous tracks from which are singled out on HBO’s acclaimed new series High Maintenance. Noisey praises Free Weed’s music as “blissed out pop.” WTH, we love Shane Smith now.

Produced by Unkle Funkle and mastered by Mikey Young (Total Control), 199Oz. Buzz Clips features covers of: Ween, Soundgarden, Alice in Chains, Butthole SurfersSpacehog, and Third Eye Blind. Each track is as polished and heavy as Matt Pinfield’s dome. We guarantee it. The deluxe version, pressed on slime green vinyl, is exclusive to indie stores worldwide.

About Free Weed: When not boosting listeners’ happiness and lowering their inhibitions as Free Weed, he is Rikky Gage, ringleader of great bands The Memories and White Fang. Gage/Weed continues to build a following that swerves mainstream, having made the hit “Burger TV” theme for Burger Records. Fans includes Workaholics’ Kyle Newacheck, Chris “Party Boy” Pontius, Run the Jewels art maven Nick Gazin (who drew the mini-comic for Introducing), and baby girl.

Like a #based Krofttian octopus, Gage’s tentacles juggle magic markers, guitars, ‘scripts, and the keys to Gnar Tapes (the dirt-chic cassette label) and GnarBurger (the L.A. retail hangout). A Gnar podcast was launched in 2015. Remarkably, according to a rock journalist, villagers in the immediate area swear they “never even saw the long-haired gringo get outta bed.”

With their band White Fang, Sir Weed and Count Funkle just wrapped a nationwide tour, runnin’ with No Parents and The Birth Defects. And Funkle is now touring Europe solo. In the spirit of 199Oz., bring ‘em gin-and-juice or Crystal Pepsi. (No mids.)
